Oh how I love the fall!! Between the leaves changing and the brisk air I tend to find my own little piece of serenity. Who can really be in a bad mood when you can be carving pumpkins and maybe baking the seeds or taking the kids out to find their costume for that big day of trick or treating?
My birthday happens to fall in October as well and although I don't tend to make a big deal out of it I could imagine anything more perfect!!
On my birthday Damian and I went over to the salon and got my nails done. Brittany bribed him with an awesome sucker to sit still (which still didn't work) and I got my Halloween fun going.
Cute aren't they? Ha I love them that is for certain. From the cutesy part to the ghostly parts I find so much fun in all of it!! The night before my birthday Emily, Katy, Cory and I headed out to Dr. Slaughters. Now I haven't been there for years, I usually find my way up to Teton and take my tour through the good old Haunted Mill. I love the whole experience of that place but I must admit we had such a great time!! Us girls definitely let out at least one squeak each (some of us plenty more ;)) and we were really pleased with the duration of the spook house as well.
For lunch Emily took Dami and myself out to our favorite place in town with Ms Katy... Gator Jacks!! This beautiful master piece however is from Cocoa Bean, my "b-day cake". I was so glad they took the time to hang out for a few on my "special" day.
After our run arounds Damian and I still had a lot of time left for the night and pretty much nothing to do with it. We decided to make it a transformers night. We drove all the way to IF just so we could get all three disks of the series and came home to pop popcorn and lay in my bed watching the movies. Dami was the greatest person for me to spend my birthday with by far!!
Pumpkin Time :D
Last night we finally had the time to carve our pumpkins. First time in like 3 or 4 years for myself and Damian's first time ever. It was so much fun I can't believe we didn't try it last year although Damian wouldn't have been a whole lot of help.
Even though he didn't quite get the concept of what we were doing with the shovel and the pumpkin guts he was still quite willing to roll up his little sleeves and get his hands in there.
Luckily we had some spare muscles to help us get the tops cracked open. I honestly think I would have done a rotten job at that. And then of course the funny side kicked in a we ended up with a bit of "pumpkin snot" hahaha.
Damian on the other hand he thought they smelled good enough to eat and soon started acting like he was lapping up those pumpkin guts.
But in that same naive sense... so did the dog :D
After we got all of our insides set aside we got right on down with the carving!! While Cory got down to work,
Dami sat along side cute as ever...
but Dami can get just about anyone distracted.
Naturally the boys finished before me, considering my ability to be late with everything.
But after long last (and a little help from my boys) my little semi "Nightmare Before Christmas" "Boogey Man" was finished.
Cory's "Grim Reaper" turned out very well although he had about no faith lol.
Originally I had picked out an adorable picture of "Micky Mouse" from Transylvania but his pumpkin was extremely special and was sent to him by Grandma Betty. A little on the smaller side my template didn't fit but he didn't skip a beat when choosing his second choice, and a good one at that. The perfect size for him special pumpkin.
I just have to say those are some attractive pumpkins tee hee hee
Pumpkins done Baking on! My very first time at baking pumpkins seeds and may I just say we did ALRIGHT. I have had some much fun this month! I really wish it didn't have to end, sadly the weather is growing colder and the days left for October less and less. On the brighter side we still have Trick or Treating to look forward to.... that will be a story in itself I am certain :D
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
